HIS 126 With Liberty and Justice for All: The US Since 1865

The course deconstructs major transformations in the United States since the end of the Civil War. Students will explore how the rise of corporations, alongside imperialist interventions, led to involvement in twentieth-century global conflicts that created massive repercussions for ordinary Americans. Technological innovations, from cars to cell phones, alongside demands for political, economic, and social inclusion, created complex responses that reconfigured how people saw the American promise of “liberty and justice for all.”
