First-Year Mentors at Centre

The College has designed a peer-advising program using current students to assist new students in their transitions into the academic life of the College. The First-Year Mentors (FYMs) are selected in the spring of the preceding year and officially introduce new students to the Centre community by communicating with them prior to arrival, providing leadership and guidance during the five day orientation program prior to the beginning of classes, and co-facilitating the FYC 001 class that takes place during the Fall semester alongside a faculty/staff instructor.  These leaders serve as liaisons between the academic advisors of new students and their advisees and provide support throughout the students' first semester at Centre.
