President's Letter

Dear Students:

Welcome! The 2023-24 year awaits, and it promises to be a remarkable one. We are excited to have you join us for the first time or as a returning member of the Centre community. As always, we are committed to supporting each other as we strive for academic excellence and athletic distinction while building lifelong friendships. Engaging with fellow students, faculty, and staff from varied backgrounds and with different experiences is at the very heart of our liberal arts and sciences education.

This handbook describes in detail the policies at Centre that enable all of us to live together in a vibrant and diverse educational community. These policies are a social contract, in which we each commit to valuing each other, offering kindness, dignity and respect to our peers, as we live and work together. By caring for each other and developing empathy for others in our daily lives, we create a community where each of us can thrive.

You will find that the faculty, staff, facilities, organizations, and activities at Centre have a common purpose—to provide you with a challenging and rich experience of intellectual and personal growth. We want you to have four years of thoughtful preparation, so that you can have a lifetime of meaningful impact in a dynamic and changing world. We look forward to supporting you as you pursue a purpose-driven education and build lives of learning, leadership, and service.

Let’s all use this year to embrace the unfamiliar, think creatively, and work together to build strong communities at Centre, in our region, and across our world.

Sincerely,

Milton Moreland
President
