ECO 385 Health Economics

This course applies the theoretical principles of economics to understand the health care sector. The demand and supply of health care services are explored. Attention is given to the intervention and function of government, the effect of health insurance and managed care, how practitioners and customers interact, the role of incentives, and the impact of externalities. In addition, current subtopics of health economics research and public policy are explored.
