Center for Career and Professional Development
The Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) guides students through the entire career development process. This includes working with students throughout their four years, and partnering with academic advisors to help students as they develop their plans and direction for their post-graduation careers. To facilitate this exploration, each academic division has its own liaison in the CCPD. These career counselor liaisons serve both the students and faculty in several ways, including:
- Providing guidance and self-assessment tools for undecided students,
- Providing targeted career advice and information for specific majors and career fields,
- Providing information on graduate school testing and admissions,
- Organizing and co-sponsoring major-specific career programming,
- Guiding students through the process of selecting and acquiring internships and other experiential opportunities,
- Guiding students through the job search process,
- Providing both general and major-specific outcomes data,
- Giving class and student group presentations on career-related issues at faculty’s request,
- Coordinating a tutoring program for students interested in tutoring Danville-area students,
- Maintaining a web site of information and resources for faculty: http://www.centre.edu/after-centre/career-planning/faculty-resources/.
The career counselor liaisons are eager to work with faculty in order to explore ways that we can better assist students in articulating their skills, academic knowledge, and competencies to match up with a wide array of career opportunities.
