Summer Study Grants

The Faculty Development Committee administers several internal funds for summer study and research and receives applications in the following categories:

  1. research, scholarly writing, or intensive practice of one's art;
  2. course work, institutes, or other activities promoting professional development in one's field;
  3. course work, institutes, workshops, and other activities designed to increase a Faculty member's ability to teach outside his or her specialty;
  4. curricular and course design outside one's professional training or specialty;
  5. collaborative research with more than one faculty member and more than one student (Alcock);
  6. collaborative work with students that involves off-campus work (Metzger);
  7. collaborative work with students (FDC funds, Mellon funds).
  8. travel abroad for language faculty to countries where the language(s) they teach is spoken, for purpose of study (J. David Grissom Fund)
