President's Letter

Dear Students:

Welcome! The 2020-2021 year awaits, and it promises to be a remarkable one! We are excited to have you join us for the first time or as a returning member of the Centre community. This year, my first year as the President of the College, we face a world pandemic and extraordinary health and safety challenges. In the midst of this intense trial, we are more committed than ever to supporting each other and continuing to maintain and grow the amazing educational and social experience at Centre.

The beginning of any school year brings with it feelings of anticipation, excitement, adventure, joy, and gratitude. We hope you bring your adventurous spirit to this school year. There has never been a more important time in our world for you to prepare to be a citizen-leader on a global level. We look forward to supporting you as you pursue a purpose-driven education at Centre.

This document describes in some detail our policies at Centre that enable all of us to live together harmoniously in a vibrant, intense, and diverse academic community. This year, our mutual agreement to follow these policies is more important than ever. The self-regulation on which these policies are largely based assumes that Centre students are responsible people who will accord every other person in the community the same dignity and kindness they themselves expect.

You will find that the faculty, staff, facilities, organizations, and activities at Centre have a common purpose – to provide you with a challenging and rich experience of intellectual and personal growth. We want you to have four years of thoughtful preparation, so that you can have a lifetime of purposeful and meaningful impact. At Centre, you are preparing to live and lead in a dynamic and changing world. We look forward to working together to broaden our respect for diversity of thought and lived experiences, becoming leaders who are adaptable and innovative in embracing current and future challenges. Let’s all use this year to embrace the unfamiliar, think creatively, and work together to build better communities at Centre, in our region, and across our world.

Sincerely,

Milton Moreland
President
