President’s Welcome

Welcome to the 2024-25 academic year! I am thrilled to see both new and returning faces as we embark on another year of learning, growth, and community building here at Centre College.

At Centre, we pride ourselves on our commitment to the liberal arts—a tradition that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and a passion for lifelong learning. The liberal arts and sciences education you receive here is designed not only to prepare you for a successful career but also to foster well-rounded, thoughtful, and engaged citizens.

Centre’s general education curriculum is at the heart of what we do. It provides a broad and inclusive foundation of knowledge across the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and arts. Our curriculum is designed by Centre’s faculty to cultivate intellectual curiosity, ethical reasoning, and a deeper understanding of the complex world we live in. By engaging in this rich and varied academic experience, you will develop the critical thinking skills and cultural awareness necessary to navigate and contribute to an ever-changing global society.

At Centre, you can build talents you might not even know you possess while making a positive difference in the world. With more than 50 majors and minors, from business to biology, engineering to history, and psychology to data science, our exceptional faculty are dedicated to your success.

Centre is also a leading institution for study abroad, with semester-long programs in 13 countries, including Mexico, France, England, and Ghana, along with study away programs in Washington, D.C., and New York City. More than 79% of Centre students study abroad or away at least once, and Summer Term classes and CentreTerm each January offer even more opportunities to explore the world.

Career readiness is an integral part of a Centre education, and an impressive 89% of recent graduates participated in either an internship and/or an undergraduate research experience on campus or around the world. These opportunities help students find their first post-graduation jobs or entrance into an ideal graduate program, law school, or medical school. One year after graduation, 98% of Centre grads are employed or in graduate school.

I look forward to the unique contributions each of our students, faculty members, and staff will make this year. Together, let's make this an extraordinary year of discovery and growth.

Sincerely,

Dr. Milton Moreland
President
