President’s Welcome

Welcome to the 2026–27 academic year at Centre College!

Every fall, this campus fills up with people who came here to do something ambitious with their lives and every fall I am reminded that what makes Centre work isn't any one program or building, but the way this community holds high expectations and genuine care at the same time. Whatever brought you to Danville, you've joined a place built to help you find out just how talented you are.

Centre's faculty design a general education curriculum that moves you across the humanities, social studies, and the sciences. The goal is not to check boxes, but to build the kind of intellectual range and ethical judgment that will matter no matter how much the world around us changes. With small classes and professors who know you well beyond your name, you'll be pushed to think harder than you expected to and supported the whole way through.

Across more than 70 majors and minors, you can chase a specific passion or let your interests cross unexpected boundaries, finding mentors and opportunities along the way. Many of you will study abroad or away, carrying a Centre classroom into another part of the world. Many of you will do research or take on an internship that turns a classroom interest into real experience. If you're an athlete, you'll join one of the nation's strongest NCAA Division III programs, competitive, close-knit, and built to create leaders on the field and off.

None of this is theoretical. Our graduates leave prepared for what's next, which is why 98% of them are working or in graduate school within a year of Commencement.

This year, I'm looking forward to watching this community do what it does best: take people seriously, take ideas seriously, and have a genuinely good time doing it. Here's to a 2026–27 full of academic inquiry, deep friendships, and work worthy of pride.

Warm regards,

Dr. Milton C. Moreland
President
