Center for Career & Professional Development
The Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) guides students through the entire career development process, through involvement in the Career Exploration Communities (CECs). This includes working with students throughout their four years and partnering with academic advisors on students’ career readiness as they develop their plans and direction for their post-graduation careers. To facilitate this exploration, each CEC has its own career coach in the CCPD and a faculty career champion, who serves as a liaison between the faculty and their CEC.
The career coaches for each CEC, plus a career coach for undecided students, will guide students through the career readiness process, including providing guidance and self-assessment tools for undecided students, targeted career advice and information on specific career fields, connection to industry experts, and information on researching graduate schools; as well as guiding students through the processes of finding and applying to internships, undergraduate research, post-graduate jobs and graduate school.
The faculty career champions will work with all faculty to help students connect the dots between what they are learning in their classes to the skills needed for a variety of potential careers. They will also help promote student and faculty involvement with the CECs and bring the CCPD and faculty together to facilitate career readiness programming and information for students.
