ARS 351 Photography-III

This is an advanced course in the art, history, and theory of photographic practices as well as digital photographic production processes. The objective of this class is the creation of photographic works that demonstrate technical, aesthetic, and conceptual rigor and that function as individual pieces as well as elements in a cohesive and nuanced portfolio. Students will deepen their understanding of the work of photographic movements and individual artists through readings, research, and discussion so as to contextualize their own photographic interests.  Students will also be required to concisely critique their own and others’ work technically, aesthetically, and conceptually. Research of greater societal concerns will be encouraged to further inform and contextualize their practice.
