BUS 320 Managing Business Scandals
This course will explore a sample of the largest corporate scandals that have been committed around the world. Enron, Lehman Brothers, Equifax, and Volkswagen to name a few. We will investigate the industry context, the circumstances that led to the scandal, and the economic/social impact. Additionally, we will study the laws that were implemented in the aftermath of those scandals that were designed to reduce the likeliness that similar scandals could occur. Finally, we will consider the viability of legal solutions to effectively protect our society from what many would consider unethical business practices and explore real-life examples of how organizations continue to engage those unethical behaviors while maintaining legality.
