HIS 235 Popular History
Most people absorb historical ideas from films or television shows they watch or social media accounts they follow. This is what we call "popular history", which is distinct from what happens in a college classroom. But what are the differences, and what are the benefits and costs of popular history? In this class we will analyze how historical ideas are shared through our fiction and through social media, and create our own examples of popular history to share online.
