LAT 230 Roman Correspondence

In this course, we’ll read about bathhouses, charioteers, farm life, fish sauce, and family as we explore everyday Roman life through the letters and correspondence of some of Rome’s most famous writers. While investigating the epistolary arts, we’ll trace the literary form of Latin letters from ancient Rome to the medieval and modern age, and by reading Romans’ personal letters, we’ll learn about the touching, real, human lives behind our movie image of Rome.
