LAT 327 Intermediate/Advanced Latin: Roman Satire

Satire is an entertaining, provocative, and powerful literary genre that the Romans claimed as their own invention. Through reading selections from satirical authors such as Horace and Juvenal, we will explore how satire employs comedy, abuse and invective to explore themes such as politics, social class, ethnicity, gender, sex and food.  Prerequisites: LAT 120 or placement in LAT 200-level or higher
