SOC 405 Advanced Research Topics

Individual students will work in collaboration with a member of the faculty on an independent research project of their choosing. The student will meet regularly with the faculty research advisor for guidance with the research project. However, the student is expected to perform much of the research autonomously. Additionally, students will attend weekly group meetings of all 405 students and the course coordinator. At the group meetings, students will report on their progress and discuss issues they have encountered in the research process. At the end of the semester, each student will give a professional-conference-quality oral presentation of their research and will turn in a written research report. Students are expected to dedicate at least three hours of work on the research project for every hour of course credit earned.
