Living on Campus
The mission of the Residence Life & Housing Office is to enhance the academic experience and to encourage an inclusive, safe, healthy, and supportive living environment for all Centre College students. We work to accomplish this by facilitating programs aimed at developing responsible decision-making skills, creating a strong sense of community, and fostering respect for self and others in a diverse, global society. The Residence Life & Housing Office believes in empowering students to accept personal responsibility and to realize the leadership potential in everyone. The Residence Life staff is responsible for coordinating programs in the campus residences, and for the selection, training, and supervision of the staff of Residence Directors and Resident Assistants.
Along with the professional staff, the Residence Life & Housing Office consists of Residence Directors and Resident Assistants. Residence Directors (RDs) are experienced, highly regarded former Resident Assistants who live in and oversee specified residential communities around campus. Resident Assistants (RAs) are a select group of students who live in specific areas and have primary responsibility there, under the direction of a Residence Director. In Greek housing, the House Manager and officers assist the Residence Life & Housing Office and Office of Greek Life in a similar fashion.
Resident Assistants are selected through a holistic and competitive selection process. The Residence Life & Housing Office will give notification of the availability of applications during the Fall Term.
