Accessibility Services

Centre College is committed to fostering respect for the diversity of the College community and the individual rights of each member of that community. In this spirit, and in accordance with the provisions of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and expanded by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Centre College seeks to provide disabled students with support services and other reasonable accommodations needed to ensure equal access to the programs and activities of the College. While the College provides a number of services to support the academic work of all its students (including tutoring), this statement outlines a variety of additional services provided specifically to students with mobility, visual, hearing, or learning disabilities.

Support services for physical disabilities of students at Centre College are coordinated by the Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing Operations and the Dean of /student Success. Individual students who have appropriate documentation of a disability are counseled to determine appropriate accommodations and identify resources and referral to the appropriate faculty member. All other disabilities are coordinated by the Assistant Dean.

All students are invited to register documentation of a physical or learning disability. Arrangements for services, equipment, modification of course material, classroom and housing assignments, and other reasonable accommodations require advance notice. Applicants indicating the need for special services must submit the Accessibility Request Form.  After submitting that request, students requesting housing accommodations will meet with the Associate director of Residence Life & Housing Operations to discuss their individual circumstances.  Students requesting academic accommodations will meet with the Dean of Student Success.  Returning students must submit requests by March 15 and new incoming students must submit requests by June 15.
