I.D. Cards
Student ID Card Policy
Each student must have a Centre I.D. card, issued through the Student Life Office. If a card is stolen, students should contact the Student Life Office (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) or the Department of Public Safety after hours. Replacement cards are issued in the Student Life Office, located on the second floor of the Campus Center, during the same hours.
Progressive Replacement Fees
Replacement fees increase by $15 for each subsequent replacement within an academic year, up to a maximum of $55:
- 1st replacement: $25
- 2nd replacement: $40
- 3rd replacement and beyond: $55 (maximum fee)
If a student misplaces their I.D. card; a temporary card may be issued at no cost for a period of 7 days to allow time to locate the original. Issuance of a temporary card is not considered a replacement and does not incur a charge. If the original card is not located and the temporary card is not returned within the 7-day period, the student will be charged a replacement fee. Students who require additional time should contact Tevin Raines in the Student Life Office (tevin.raines@centre.edu; 859-238-5473) prior to the deadline to request an extension.
Damaged, Faded, or Unreadable ID Cards
Intentional damage to an ID card will not qualify for a free replacement.
However, ID cards that have become damaged, faded, or otherwise unreadable or unscannable through normal wear will be replaced at no cost, at any time, regardless of how many replacements the cardholder has previously received. These replacements do not count towards the progressive replacement fee schedule.
A Centre I.D. card is required for meals on campus, use of the library, and other campus services. Students should always be prepared to present their I.D. to College officials as a form of identification.
Students who withdraw from the College for any reason, including academic or disciplinary suspension, must return their I.D. card to the Office of the Registrar within 48 hours of withdrawal. I.D. cards also control residence hall access; only residents of a given building have access to that building.
