Health Services for Students
The Student Health office is a small medical clinic located in the Parsons Center for Student Health and Counseling at 309 College Street. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis. Student Health is open when classes are in session, August through May. Two physicians, specializing in Family Practice, provide direct patient care four hours per week: Monday through Thursday 7:30 am – 8:30 am. A physician’s assistant, a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, and an administrative assistant provide full time services to students. Student Health is open for patient care on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, closing from noon – 1:00 pm for lunch. On Thursdays, the student health office is open for patient care from 7:30 am – 12:00 noon. The counseling offices are also located in Parsons Center for Student Health and Counseling.
Medications, diagnostic tests, and vaccinations are available at or near cost. Payment can be made at the time of service or applied to the student’s college account. There is no charge for allergy shots administration. Students should bring their allergy vials and dosage sheets, provided by their allergist, to the Student Health office or have them mailed directly from the allergist office.

In the event of a medical emergency, call 911 or the Department of Public Safety at 859-236-4357. Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center is located two blocks from campus. If a student is admitted to the hospital, please notify Centre's Student Health Office at 859-238-5530. If extensive nursing care is required upon discharge, the student is advised to seek medical assistance at home or through a home health nursing service. Centre College reserves the right to notify a student’s parent or guardian in the event of a medical emergency or imminent danger.
A meal plan must be purchased by all students whether living on-or off-campus unless there is a serious health problem with nutritional requirements that cannot be met through the plan. To receive exemption from the meal plan, for medical reasons, documentation is required from the student’s primary care physician or from another MD who specializes in an applicable field. The student must then meet with the Centre Dining General Manager to see if dietary requirements can be met through campus dining services. The Centre Dining General Manager will notify the Student Health office once a decision is made. Contact the Student Health office for information.
