Norton Center for the Arts
The Norton Center reserves a number of tickets, based on availability, to shows in Newlin Hall and the Weisiger Theatre for Centre student use each year as part of the student comprehensive fee. Most performances are available at no additional charge, based on a voucher system as further explained below. For Norton Center Series performances that free student tickets are not offered or Norton Center-sponsored special events and non-Series performances, a special ticket price for Centre students may be offered. All Centre College student tickets will be marked as such and are not transferable.
The Norton Center Series
Vouchers for student tickets for Norton Center Series performances are distributed approximately three weeks before each event on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to his/her own voucher, each student may pick up a voucher for up to three additional Centre students by presenting each student's valid Centre identification cards. Student vouchers may be picked up, during designated timeframes, at the Norton Centre box office weekdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm or as instructed. Emails will be sent to remind students of the designated pickup dates.
Vouchers MUST be exchanged for a performance ticket at the Norton Center box office or designated student ticket pick up table on the night of an event. Students must bring their voucher and their own Centre College Student I.D. in order to receive a performance ticket. Only one (1) ticket will be released per student. If performance tickets are still available within the week prior to an event date, the Norton Center may re-open the voucher pickup period for Centre students who had not picked up a voucher during the three-day pickup period. If this occurs, Norton Center staff will notify students with instructions. While many of the Norton Center Series performances are available for Convocation credit, a show may sell out and vouchers beyond what were offered during the pickup period may not be available, so please plan accordingly. Student vouchers and tickets are solely for the use of Centre College students and may not be transferred to anyone else. Vouchers must be redeemed no later than 15 minutes before start time of each performance, otherwise a student may forfeit their seat to another patron. Students who did not pick up a voucher during the designated time may still come to the box office or designated voucher table to request a performance ticket on the night of an event but are not guaranteed a seat, and may not be seated until 15 minutes of curtain, depending on availability.
Norton Center Series performances are public events with audience members that include Centre faculty and staff, public officials, community leaders, parents, prospective students with their families, donors, and others who have paid full ticket price to participate. Students should represent Centre College with high esteem by dressing appropriately; not texting, using an electronic device, chewing gum or talking during a program; not entering or exiting the theatre or clapping at incorrect times; and respecting those around them. Inappropriate behavior could result in immediate removal from an event, loss of Convocation credit and/or a student’s not being welcome to attend future Norton Center events.
