REL 246 East Asian Religions: Art & Clay
This course combines classroom and ceramic studio with the aim of exploring art as a method of religious practice in East Asian traditions. In the classroom, the course will engage with primary and secondary texts on Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism in their respective developments across China, Korea, and Japan. In the studio, students will begin "wandering in the arts" with clay and learn how to use the pottery wheel while reflecting on what was learned in the classroom. No prior experience required.
