Pregnancy Accomodation Policy

Title IX protects students from discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery therefrom. Institutions must not discriminate against any student or exclude any student from their education program or activity, including any class or extracurricular activity based on those conditions. Title IX also prohibits Centre College from applying any rule related to a student’s parental, family, or marital status that treats students differently based on their sex.

This means that Centre College treats pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, and recovery therefrom the same as any other temporary disability with respect to any hospital or medical benefit, service, plan, or policy for students.

Centre College is dedicated to the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity as integral to the college mission, including accommodating pregnancy-related conditions. If you would like to notify Centre of your pregnancy status and request adjustments, please notify John Perrin in the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX.
