ANT 364 Inventing the Past

This course takes an interdisciplinary approach rooted in anthropology to explore: 1) The emergence of archaeology and museum studies as modern disciplines; 2) The ways colonialism, religious ideologies, and political agendas have shaped the stories told through archaeological remains and museum collections, and 3) What decolonizing archaeology and museum studies might entail today. Prerequisite: ANT 120 or permission of the instructor.
